Animator DV Simple is a free capturing software for stop-motion animators.

You can visit its website to download it in our Links section.

When you first open Animator DV Simple up, you will be asked for a serial number.  This number can be found on the Animator DV website.

Animator DV Simple will open up and the following window will appear:

Click on New Project or select an existing project you have made.  Click Ok.

Next you will see the following window.

If you have a webcam plugged into a usb port, the main screen should be displaying what the webcam sees.  To use a different webcam, select Project, Settings, and then choose a different available device.

To get started, you have to create a new sequence.  You should make a sequence for each scene of your movie. To create a new sequence, just press the spacebar.  This option will appear on your screen:

In the Sequence name box, type in the name of your choice.  Select the format you want, or just use Bitmap and press OK.  In the sidebar, you will now see:

The red circle next to your sequence indicates that you are ready to start capturing.

Read the next tutorial to learn how to do this.

Animator DV Simple automatically saves your progress for you. No need for saving it manually.

Congratulations! You have made your first sequence. Read the next tutorial to learn how to capture the frames.
